I made a cool laser sight for my new dSLR camera (although you can use it with any camera with a tripod mount)
I used a small tripod that I'm not using anymore, removed the legs and attached a mount for laser pens.
The result is stunning. No matter how long the shutter speed is, the beam is always sharp (doh) and with a steady hand, the surroundings can also be brightly illuminated and acceptably sharp.
Normal lighting (what it looks like to the eye at midnight). Shutter=1/15th, ISO1600 f/2.8
Same, with slow shutter speed of 1/1.5th
It can also create funny effects:
