Hi guys,

I am after a little help. I have been told that to use a tool (basicly an inclinometer with a laser in it) with a 5mw 532nm laser in it, requires a licence as it is too powerful. It is CE marked and conforms to EN 60825. It is fixed in place for use and is used indoors.

Has anyone come up against this before? I could understand if it is a hand held laser pointer or a audience scanning laser but it is neither.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Nope
Laws in Germany are that you can't import anything over 5mw (with out any problems),
But you can possess any type, any power.
I worked with some 5mW-20W Lasers and I only needed a safety instruction as I was at a Laboratory.

Thanks for that. So from your understanding there are no restrictions for use of class 3r lasers? I can import them no problem. It's the using them that seems to be an issue.
