Hey guys, i just got this 532nm 200mW laser a couple months ago and have been disappointed by the output.
This laser isnt able to light matches or do any other common burning tricks seen by laser fanatics. In fact, it is significantly dimmer than my $30 200mW 532nm laser.
so I thought id turn up the pot on this laser just to get it slightly brighter. I realize it will shorten the life of the diode, but i want a burning laser.

Anyways the problem is that i dont know how to take this laser apart. Ive broken a few of my lasers trying to take them apart and i dont want the same to happen to this one, it was quite expensive...
So here are some pics of the host.. if any of you have this host and know how to take it apart, please tell me :) :thanks:

HERE ARE THE PICTURES:

I'm not familiar with that host at all, but I've got to ask; what are you hoping to achieve by taking it apart?

Face the facts, you bought cheap chinese lasers and were lied to about the outputs. I doubt it was over 50mW. I doubt your $30 was over 50mW.

There isn't anything you can do to increase the power significantly that won't destroy the laser totally. Pot modding doesn't work anymore because chinese retailers bin their products and sell them accordingly. If it was capable of 200mW, they would have made it so and sold it for $150 instead of whatever much cheaper price you bought it for. It probably has a low power IR pump diode which could never achieve more than 100mW of green.

Don't take it apart, have someone LPM it for you and resell it for what it is worth. Use the money you make to buy yourself a nice laser from a reputable company with appropriate prices that will be on spec.

445 nm is best for burning since it comes in such high powers if burnings what you want.

I realize you're trying to be helpful but your post(s) isn't really on topic at all. The OP isn't asking what's best for burning or even stating that he wanted a burning laser. He was saying it can't do any tricks as an example of it's output power, since he doesn't have an LPM. I'm certainly not going to neg rep you or anything but you might want to try a bit harder next time, others won't be so kind. Just some friendly advice.

Umm sounds like he wants to burn to me and as stated that pointer probably doesn't put out the power for such a task so I was recommending a known burning diode since he'll probably have to have a new laser for burning tricks
