I posted in other threads back in April and May while I was looking toward buying a cheap green laser for my first one.
I went with this one: http :// kaidomain. com/Product Details. aspx? ProductId= 1218
(take out all the spaces)
I figured even if it was just 60mW of true green then it'd be worth it and do everything I wanted it to do. Here's the review I left on KD's site since they've revamped it.
Strengths:Solid Build quality, good feel in hands, fantastic at night. -Very Bright dot and Beam -Pops Balloons -Cuts black plastic -The battery that comes with the laser is very powerful and lasts a long time -good box
Weaknesses:-Takes a while to warm up -Will NOT light matches (I watched it for minutes without even a little smoke) -lots of excess light emminating from the beam (if you point the laser near and beyond an object you can see green light on the object very distinctly.) -Does not seem to be 100mW -button wiggles around a lot.
Summary:Although satisfactory for me (price to power ratio seems fantastic) it really doesn't seem to be 100mW. It can hardly be seen, very faintly, during the day, but is vibrantly seen at night miles away. I can't wait to take it out of the city and get away from all the light pollution. I bought this without any idea about what I would eventually be getting. I checked LaserPointerForums.com to try and find a good cheap laser, and decided to take a gamble with this one. I am very happy with my purchase. I knew that I would probably not be getting the listed power outputs, but I truly got what I wanted for the price. I would buy this again if I could redo the purchase. I placed my order 5/2/08 and just got it 7/14/08, so do not expect it to arrive anytime soon. It was labeled as "In Stock" when I ordered as well.
I'll be taking it down to the university to test the actual output of the laser in a week or so, but I wanted to get a base-level review into these forums in the event that others wanted to try KD.
Bottom Line:
I'm happy with it, as it is my first laser and I am impressed. The shipping time was horrible, but I was told to expect as much. It does not seem to be able to do things other 100mW lasers can.
More info and pictures coming soon
