Kaidomain - is it just a DX clone?

Thanks to this great forum I'm waiting for my DX True 30 to arrive. I'm not expecting it to arrive anytime soon or to last too long, but figured that It might tell me how fun this hobby is so I can justify a Nova! But I stumbled across Kaidomain which seems to be a DX clone. Does anybody here have any experience with them? Their "Edwina" looks interesting and looks similar to a DX offering. Any thoughts on this one? - the CR batteries must be a plus point

welcome to LPF! from what i've heard, they pretty much sell the exact same lasers as each other. i may be wrong, of course and if you end up getting a nova, remember to use the 5% discount code they give us LPF people to use!! hehe

It's not exactly a clone, though they have similar stuff, similar price levels, and are both based in HK. I ordered the 50 mW CR2 laser last week, DX doesnt carry that model (yet). I'll post some info once it gets here.

Also sent me a wrong laser after me emailing them about it first. Then asked me to sell the laser, send them the cash an they'd send me my new laser, then they sent my new laser to someone else. All the while keeping email contact with me. They did refund me though, but the time spent waiting and messing was not worth it.

I did get a nice 50mw back in july before they discontinued them for a cheaper model, it's still going strong off them with no issues.

Not sure weather i'd buy anything from there again though, maybe another lensepen to see if they've improved

Just copying the disclaimer as is looks a bit stupid indeed... but i'm quite sure they are 'inspired' by dx anyways. I don't care that much really, as long as they deliver as promised.

DX does carry that model but sells it as 30mW. I really think KD jacks up the mW ratings or turn up the pots themselves. They don't say their lasers are NewWish either, meaning they are probably clones. Or they turn up the pot themselves. They are really only good for flasholics and don't care much for lasers. Their customer service leaves much to be desired.

It might just be an overlabeled 30 mW as sold on DX, i really don't know. For the price they are selling it at, i'm willing to find out as its a good deal for a laser in this form factor, provided it puts out a few 10s of mW.

The problem is that the looks don't really mean all that much. A DX20 is completely indentical to DX200 on the outside, apart from the warning sticker. These CR2 powered ones may come in different powers as well, who knows till people try
