I recently have had an interest in lasers, after searching the web for all my answers I came across this forum which has contributed to 90% of my basic knowledge of lasers.

Today, I built my first blu-ray laser and have it wired to a driver and 9v battery. Ive seen a couple posts with people having trouble with 9v batteries but mine seems to be doing fine. I was wondering if I used a different power source would I get even better results from my laser or since the 9v is working should I not even bother?

Thank you for your time, I apologize if this has already been answered.

Wha current are you driving it at? The problem with the 9V batteries come on he +100mA range. A 9V is normally able to supply a max of 100mA, so if you are trying anything else you should use another kind of battery.

But now that I think on it, I'll make another question: The rechargeables 9V batteries use nimh just as all the others, then how do they get 9V?

jking, try to use another battery, ifthe power increase then your 9V wasn't giving thre laser it best :P

Well the driver runs it at about 100ma so I guess ill stick to my 9v. I was just looking for a more compact better alternative because 9v seems to be doing good but it limits me because not many flashlights hold 9v batteries

what driver are you using? rkcstr/ddl I guess, so you are better getting 2 cr123 or 2 CR2. Flahslights do not use 9V cells just because they suck on high power devices. 9V cells are made for walkie talkies and oter devices that need high voltage for short periods.

I dont know the driver name =\ but i do know that the driver requires 8-15v to run normally

make a photo of it and upload? Where did you got the driver from?
