Is this diode any good?

hey i harvested a diode out of an asus DRW-22B2ST dvd burner ,is it any good? i have no idea and cant find any posts about this diode. its got three pins and is one of those flat diodes i think. also there was only one diode in the sled. any one know? thanks.

Unfortunately no. You cannot use it as it's flat plastic package instead of round 5.6mm metal one.

IF i can put it in a home made host it will work wont it? i mean 22x dvd burner should blast out the red light yes?

It will work, yes, problem is the mounting it into something, collimating it's light (mounting the lens in front of it) and finally heatsinking it.
