Would it be dangerous to point a high powered infrared laser at a wall, and look at the area where the laser is being pointed at without eye protection? I was wondering this because i ordered an eBay laser, and i am not certain that there is an infrared filter in the laser.

Depends on the amount of IR it's pissing out. What did you get? Details are needed to help.

Lol sorry for my wording. Just scowling a bit over a few things today. Make sure you post an intro and fill out your profile.

That being said, most any laser can harm your eye, and 5mW is the legal limit on most, anything higher should have protection. I'm assuming you bought a green based on info given. IR leakage is typically several times the green output. The difference is that your eye cannot see it, and therefore you don't know it's entering your eyes, therefore you don't squint or avert your eyes etc. if it doesn't have a filter then I wouldn't view it directly, but at a distance if a few meters it should be ok for brief intervals. It's honestly better to buy a quality laser than play it cheap. Sorry, it's an expensive hobby...
