IR Filters

Is there any standard kind of IR filter that can be easily fitted into normal housings (meredith, or aixiz). How important is it to have these kind of filters in DIY projects? I know that the more expensive laser pointer companies use IR filters... is it really of that big of importance?

If you use DPSS lasers. But people use meredith and aixiz modules for diode lasers such as dvd or blu-ray or IR.These don't emit IR so there's no point in having an IR filter (except for the IR diodes that do emit IR, that's what they do, that's what you want them to do, so you don't want a filter blocking their output.)
