IR Filter for dvd laser

Im not sure if red lasers need IR filters but i plan on making a laser with a dvd laser diode. Is there and need for an IR filter?

roSSco is right. The deal with IR filters is with laser systems that use an infrared laser to pump crystals which then emit your final product like 532nm green or 473nm blue. You need to filter out what stray IR gets through.

With a red diode, its direct conversion from electricity to red emission so you don't need to worry about any intermediates.
