Interesting grating from an LCD screen

I replaced the LCD screen on my fiancee's camera and decided to dissect the broken one. On both sides I found a clear sheet that generated a line when I shined a laser through it - one vertical and the other horizontal. Shining a laser through both blocks the beam entirely, so I think this is some sort of anti-glare device that absorbs ambient light. Anyway, enjoy the pic. :D

Check your code again. I don't see any picture.

They're not gratings; they're more like line-generating fresnel lenses. It's to scatter the backlight and illuminate the LCD uniformly. I've tried them with lasers before, and they're not ideal for line generating since they're meant to diffuse.

Fixed. My image was too big. Cool re: the explanation.
