In search of tiny diodes

Are there any manufacturers of surface mount laser diodes? I found some that Sanyo makes that aren't surface mount, but small (3.3mm x 3.2 mm). Anything smaller?

What do you need them for? I don't know if its practical for surface mount. You can get a c mount diode though and cut off some of the extra heatsink. The actual diode chip by itself is pretty small (~1mm in the longest dimension for most diodes), but working with them is next to impossible.
