Now I dont want to steal anything from ehgemus or his designs I just love his hosts could never afford one and think it would be fun to make my own. So how would I go about it. I know i need precise measurements and all but could anyone help me with how I should start.

I would just go by the photos that are on the forum.
Use them for the info that your need. Well not the precise measurements
that you would like to have but at least it would look like the host you want.

If you want precise measurements on his host then ask the man himself.
As in my view he should be the only one to be able to give you precise measurements.

Good luck on your build man.

If I were you I would stop asking people on how to copy his hosts and figure out the measurements your self. How do you think he did it?

First what kind of laser are you going to be making the host for? 445, red, bluray, maybe a green module. Each of these require different heat sinking depending on how powerful you want to make it.

Batteries are a big factor in how to make a custom host as well. Batts come in all shapes and sizes. So figure out which size works for how big or small you want your host to be but will still supply your laser with enough power and hold enough for a decent run time.

I would figure out what kind of laser you want and get the batteries that you will need and use the batteries for measurements.

Since this will be your first experience with a lathe I would make the host to fit a standard aixiz module for simplicity. And don't forget about space for a driver cavity.
