how would i do this with my camera?

I have a canon powershot SD630 and i would like to know how to set my shutter speed really slow so i may capture "words" with my laser on a wall. I have tried to go through my menus and setting and cant seem to find it.

Check if your camera has a "night shot" mode... usually it's a little icon of a moon. This usually gives the longest exposure, otherwise, put it into manual mode and there should be an "EV" setting (or it might be called something else, check your manual) which is the Exposure setting.... set this as far as it can go in the + direction.

Your camera has a maximum shutter time of 15 seconds. But according to the article in the link below, the manual mode of the cam does not give one true control over aperture and shutter speed. So I'm not sure if you can actually set it to 15 seconds.
