Hello,

Does anyone knows here how to project a grid, I mean a line-grid (like EVE in Wall-e, if you saw the movie), not a dot-grid (like with those widely available diffraction grating). Any idea, combination of optics, or.. ?

Thanks

How about many line generators side by side paralleled to each other, then another many line generators perpendicular to the first ones? :D

It could be a b!tch to set up though...

how about 1 dot grid grating followed by a crosshair grating.. BAM! grid

I've got a few. They sometimes come with the dollar pointers. it's a simple 4x4 box grid. I'll load a picture later tonight.

keeperx: yes you're right, I was thinking of using that solution too :)

cyparagon: ah, I'm pretty much interested ! looking forward for a picture...
any idea where I could get thoses cheap accessories (online) ?

^The constructivity of that post is simply breath-taking. Do you always put that much time and effort in to your posts?

As the wavelength increases, so does the angle of diffraction. All images were taken with lasers at ~10 feet.

And a Bonus:

haha man, I'm from Paris but didn't heard about this terrible turtle execution ;)
thanks a lot for the photos, I see you have a wide range of lasers...
I didn't figure though how to get thoses cheap grid lens, ebay only sell line and cross lens currently...

At the dollar or variety store, you might find "Hi-Power 5mw laser keychain with 100 pattern heads" .
That's how I got a whole bunch of these patterns. Cheap, too.

Cyparagon - Nice photos!!!

^what he said. 3 out of my 100 or so are grids. Unless you want to spend $50, you'd probably want to purchase 20-50 heads for a good chance at getting one.

These are what you want.

billg519, Cyparagon... a lot of thanks to you !
have you seen any other grid pattern in thoses set, or is the 4x4 grid the only one ?

You can use any cross generating laser and a diffraction grating to create a very large grid with many rows. Ex. A Brightline cross gen from Lasaerglow and a megamatrix diffraction grating from novalasers will get you a solid grid pattern with dozens of rows and columns made of clear, focusable lines.
