How to make a simple PWM/TTL laser driver circuit for making grey scale engravings/markings?

Hello I have some 405nm Sony and Nichia laser diodes ranging from 400mW to 7 W.

I want to make some greyscale engravings or markings onto paper using a small desktop CNC using GRBL.

Curious if anyone knows how to make a PWM/TTL laser driver circuit, how can I make one?
Would be using a micro controller such as an Arduino or ESP32.
