how hard is the soldering damages ?

ok i guess i burned like 4 red dvd burner laser diodes , but now iam gettin a new dvd burner which iam gonna be very careful with , just wanna know the rules , what could break the diode .
the driver circuit is ok , actually didn't test it , but i built it as it was exactly explained in the forum ,
so my most important question is , what are the possibility that the last 4 diodes were burned during soldering ?
is there any other way to connect without soldering ?

We have no idea of what LD you used ore what LD Driver
you used or at what current the driver was set as...

Its like me asking you why my car doesn't go...
There is just not enough info to supply any help.

If you apply too much heat to the pins of a LD it
will damage the Laser Diode...

If you could include pictures of your diodes and soldering job this may help.

Practice make perfect with soldering...when I came to the forums I had never soldered before.

Flux will help soldering faster so that heat doesn't transfer to your pins when soldering wires to them.

that is it , running on lm317 , supplied with a ac/dc 7.5 supplier ,
how can i figure the current in the driver ?

you need to make a test load and get yourself a multimeter to measure the current, Flux is used with solder to help the solder to flow more easily.

What Kookapeli said. Do a bit more reading on current setting and soldering. Get yourself a test-load, or make one....both are available here.:beer:
