How can I make laser light from a laser pointer less harmful?

I want to put maybe a material to filter some harmful stuff or something from the laser light. If possible, please tell me where I can purchase it. Other ways to make laser light less harmful are welcome.

1) wear appropriate Laser Safety Goggles/Glases
2) turn down the current going to the Laser Diode
3) install a Glass Neutral Density filter
4) install a Glass filter for the wavelength of your laser
5) buy a lower power Laser
5) turn off your laser
