Hey guys...

Got a cheap In car, FM transmitter. My car radio has no AUX input and is inbuilt to the dash.

The problem I'm having with the unit is static and noise...

Now I have tried a few different stations, but can't honestly say I tried very hard. Mainly because the static seemed to decrease as I turned the FM transmitters volume down. But this has adverse affects when you turn the car radio's speakers up, as it reintroduces noise...

Now, would anyone know of a way I can boost the output signal while keeping the noise to almost 0? Would choosing a higher frequency help in anyway?

I do like the small form factor of it, as well as its nice features... so keeping the current FM transmitter is preferred.

Thanks in advance!

I found a old FM radio antenna, and desoldered it from it's PCB in it's radio, and soldered it in place of the antenna on the transmitter. It didn't work the first time, because I clipped the wire, and changed the length of the antenna. I got another antenna, and desoldered it instead of clipping it, and it worked great the second time. I had the exact same problem as you.

The unit seems to be making a crackling sound when nothing is being played... as well as when the music is playing.

What kind of antenna did you use? As far as I know, most FM transmitters of this size use a PCB trace that is coiled or wriggly as an antenna..
