soo i just discovered this website.. i can see myself reading about all these projects lol, i do plan to stick around. It also looks like the perfect place to ask someone with experience what i need to make a cool laser pointer myself.

I have a few playstation 4 discdrives laying around the shop leftover from recent repairs and decided to take the diode out of one knowing that people have turned them into powerful lasers.

well now that ive seen tons of videos and tutorials im still kinda unsure what i should use to power this thing. also im not sure about a driver or a lens.. just looking for some recommendations, maybe even a store to order from. any knowledge is appreciated :)

alright first buy a pair of safety google from survival laser.
batteries from LarryDFW or Survival Laser.
Module,Lens,Diodes go to DTR laser shop.
for host go to Ehgemus,Sinner,grainde,Mohrenberg.
for custom Heat-sink go to Eudainmonium, flaminpyro.
for driver contact Lazeerer,Flaminpyro.
please add your location to your profile.
and this ain't a cheap hobby.
-I reccomend you to buy a complete laser module from DTR becaus it would save you alot of time and money. and those diodes you got from ps4 no-one here know their specs. those diode s may have has long run-time and on a brink of death.

Seconded on the diodes FUBeaches - get a complete module with diode from DTR. It'll save you a bunch of trouble! Survival Lasers has kits, as far as I remember all you need to do is add the diode (From DTR) and hook everything up. They also sell good safety glasses, not the cheap stuff you find on eBay which should be avoided.

The PS4 diodes are most likely low powered diodes intended only for reading disks and may not be functioning entirely well by the time you get everything together.
