help removing diode from heatsink

I use a very fine hacksaw blade and cut almost all the way through one side .
Then i use a flat blade screwdriver in the slot ive cut and give it a twist.
Never had a problem spliting the heatsink without damaging the diode

I've had luck using two sets of small pliers and twisting in opposite directions. This only works if there is enough to grab a hold of though.

If it's an open can be careful when using a saw as it may introduce particles into the laser. ;)
