Hello,

I've been reading this forum for about a month and I got the answers to all my questions by searching, mostly through goggles helpful search command (site:laserpointerforums.com).

After reading this forum I finally decided to buy a few lasers, a 100mw 532nm from O-like along with their not so great but better than nothing (for now) goggles and two 5mW 532nm and a ~150mw 532nm module which I will use to upgrade one of the two 5mw lasers -thanks to styropyro's video. I haven't received them yet but I only ordered a few days ago and I know how long it might take:)

I'm not sure if I'll become hooked on lasers as much as a lot of you all on here but who knows what will happen after I get my lasers:)

Hi, and welcome to the forum:D

It's always a good idea to your feet wet, and learn to swim before you go diving into the deep end, so good job getting a 5mW laser.

Is it one of o-like's 5mW lasers?

If it is, just bear in mind that it could be overspec, most usually are and are in reality 10-20mW range.

The olike goggles are better than nothing, but when you cat, upgrade to the pair from suvival laser.

Hello, I wasn't clear on that, heh. The two 5mW lasers and the 150mW module (for the upgrade) I bought from Deal Extreme.

Chances are the pens will be overspec and leaking some IR... so do be careful with them. Usually the beam diameter and divergence are both lousy, but that still doesn't make them safe.

Thanks for the advice. I did become aware of the overspecing before I bought the lasers, including the 5mW's. I wanted to buy a laser quality IR filter for the lasers but it appears that a decent laser quality IR filter can cost a bit.

For now I will be careful:)
