Already own this, but here is what looks to be new, old stock, and is the 1st commercially available solid state laser pointer ever made. Made in Adelaide AU, it came right after the world's 1st laser pointer (by same company, Laserex), the miniaturized LLP-100 HeNe. Looks to be in great shape. These are quite dim (670nm <1mW), but would have set you back over $550 USD at any Sharper Image store at the time. The optics are all glass, and top notch. The world's 1st solid state laser pointer. Amazing how much things have changed!

So I own both this, and an LLP-100. I remember salivating over these at the Sharper Image stores, and returning the LLP-100 once the LDP-300 came out. Granted, it was dimmer, but the LLP-100 ate through at the time expensive 9 volts (no rechargeable NiMH's back when), and having it be solid state (diode) was such a big deal.

Not being able to leave good enough alone, I tried to "pot mod" my LDP-300, and it just died. :( Fortunately, it has regained new life from the very skilled and super nice Monk. The body now hosts a 300mW ~650nm diode. It's just a tad brighter than the original <0.95mW 670nm. Still, I wish I owned the original. Does anyone know, it this a fair price? They are asking about $60. I guess it's more a museum piece than a practical pointer.

wow looks like they unloaded a couple much cheaper. Someone must have told them the historical importance of this. The box it shows looks a bit different than the box my Sharper Image one came in (which looks like modified VHS cassette box/book), and fits nicely in bookshelf.

Looks like they lowered the price to about $50 something, and free shipping. There are SUPER RARE (world's 1st ever solid state pointer).

Once someone buys it now, it's gone ;)

Thanks (yeh I'm getting a huge kickback from seller to say nice shameless things about this pointer...NOT!) Seriously, just a near mint piece for your museum collection, and once it's bought, I doubt you'll ever run into one again.

I would be more interested in the LDP-300 UB which has a 635nm diode. I used to have one and it was a great laser, especially for presentation work.
