Hay there guys!just got

Hay dudes.
I got given an apparently high power laser diode from my Dad.
I can't wait to start messing around with it. (responsibly of course )

I have one problem however. The diode has no documentation or model number.
I thought I should take some pictures and show them to some laser enthusiasts for help.
Which forum section should I post them to?

EDIT: Added photos and a bit more data. Sorry for the bad quality.
The attached image shows side view, lens end and the rear end.

The lens appears to have a blue tint to it.
There are 4 legs on the back.
There is also a number written on the back: 0146105
I think it's power may be 0.5 Watts

You could post them in general lasers or you could just post them in this topic if you want. Do you know what power level it is?

I'm guessing that thing is infrared, amm I right? If that is a bare diode, be extrememly careful as a tiny bit of static will kill it.

I have no idea if it is infrared or not or if it is a bare diode. I was hoping to get some identifying tips here.

I'm pretty sure that is infrared because it is .5W(That's a heck of a lot of power). But it looks like a bare diode with some lens in front of it. Do you know where your dad got it at or what he got it from?

It was bought from a stall at a amateur radio convention in Germany.

Maybe its from the deathstar WOOHOO!!! cant see anything in your pics, try uploading higher res pics. Hopefully its something better than infrared, like a crazy uknown colour, woooo
