Something I had wanted to photograph but never got around to (until recently) was to photograph gelcap with different types of light (and lasers) because of the way it interacts with the pills being translucent and curved. So I raided the medicine cabinet and the first batch I photographed was just ibuprofen 200mg, which are blueish green in color, very 495nm looking. I thought they would illuminate nice with a 460nm and a 495nm to start, and then other colors were used. I eventually used UV light and the pills just lit up and look really cool. The pictures below are really just experiments to see how the pills react to light and figure out my exposures, but look pretty good. Some of them are a little rough around the edges and out of sharp focus. That was something I corrected midway thru this batch.

In subsequent photo sessions I came up with some nice ideas using more gelcaps (vitamin D and fish oil gelcap) and spent another 10 days photographing them. Those photos are more artistic than the below photos. If people enjoy these pics I will have to get some of the other ones posted. Enjoy

I love image 3276. Has a real alien feel to it.
Probably because the colour reminds me of this. :p

Hey Curtis, those are alien eggs, and they're about to hatch!

WOOWOO!! This really is a brilliantly composed study of colors and textures. I can’t stop grinning, and owe you another +Rep. Thanks again for breaking new ground. Please Take Care. :kewlpics:

Very nice photos, Bruce. I really wanted to see them with the 405nm laser fluorescing. Which ones were those? + Rep.

Awesome pics, especially love the 495.

I'll rep you when I can for the creative idea.
Please post the rest

Thanks, Bruce. I was hoping the fluorescence would be a different color than violet/blue. Kind of like my U glass fluoresces yellow/green.

That picture with the yellow (3285) the colors are really neat in that picture. for some odd reason the color scheme looks like something you would find on an alien spacecraft on startrek but that might just be because im in a creative mood tonight
