So, up to today, I have noticed absolutely no mode-hopping with my X-25. Then I pointed it through a window today and the reflected beam happened to flash a foot or two to the left of my head, giving me a clear view of the beam. ( I was wearing my goggles, chill)

I could not help but notice 2 separate beams! Heavens no! I moved the reflected beam to the wall behind me and turned around to see 2 separate dots! What could have possibly have caused this? I nearly contacted Nova after repeating the same thing happened except with fresh batts and a rest for the laser.

Then, I noticed that the glass was double glazed. Yep, it was just the second reflection bouncing back. As soon as I tried with a mirror, all was fine ::)

Had me pretty scared there! ;D

Hehe... interesting that you never noticed that effect before, it is clearly visible usually.

Sometimes you can also see the reflections from the other end of the panes, which are much weaker, but can give you 4 spots for one beam going in.

That happens almost with all reflexive surfaces, how haven't you noticed that b4? ::)

Doesn't happen with mirrors... I guess I just never paid attention, normally shine with windows open to get strongest beam possible, and avoid dangerous reflections....I did notice the large number of dots on the pane previously, but had never made the connection between that and my lasers "mode-hopping"! :D

It happens with second surface mirrors too.You get the main reflection and two weaker ones, from the glass and from the shiny part reflecting off the glass and back into the shiny part.
