It is not really a good suggestion to bash your Laser on anything to fix it....:undecided:
From what you stated.. it seems that you probably had a loose/intermitent
or dirty battery or switch or other electrical connection that could have
probably been fixed by a good inspection and cleaning of any contacts...

Yes I've seen it before and it's only a 1mW so it was more of a ghetto fix
