I'm still waiting on a few parts (heat sink for the 317 and a new diode SLD1239JL)

Using a Radio Shack hobby box with my own LM317 based driver, two buttons for added safety, two RCR123A 3.6v batts in series, the copper flange up front is from Ace Hardware, the Aixiz module fits perfectly in it, makes a nice heat sink.

Nice but you should've used a smaller box, there's a lot of empty space in there.

Yea I know, once I started getting into it I was like "this is a bit big" but whatever I'll get better and better (:

With that empty space in there you should thrown in an LED indicator for kicks. I like Blue LEDs for my DIY lasers, it just gives these things a cool look.

Looks like a great start. I can't wait to see this thing up and running. I like the idea of the LEDs, maybe wire two of them. Have one for standby and one for lasing.
