Couldn't find this anywhere on this forum so though I'd post it :)

In finland it is illegal to own or sell a battery operated (a.k.a handheld) laser over 1mW without the laser first going through a check (to pass the check the laser must have finnish AND swedish instructions + meet some other safety standards) The check costs about 400€

Theres no power limit in labstyle lasers (or laser modules, diodes etc).

How to get a battery powered laser through the customs? Just don't mention its a laser :) (for example if they ask for a receipt to check the orders total price needed for tax remember to edit the word laser replacing it with flashlight for example before showing them that receipt) or if possible buy the laser host and module separetly, that way its 100% legal :)

Hope this helps someone.

BE SAFE, ALWAYS USE SAFETY GOGGLES WITH ANYTHING OVER 5mW AND DON'T BUY A LASER BEFORE YOU UNDERSTAND IT'S DANGERS.

If anyone has something to add just tell me and I will update this post.

These laws and stuffs are so confusing  B.I.G. thanks for clearing out situation of Finland.

But I have to boubt how the safety is increased via 400€ test :banghead: Maybe in that way that we would have 400€ less for harmles goods like booze :poke:

I also have find out that there are no <1mW quality lasers on market so I'm like victim here to force to buy <5mW
(I'a aware of Dragon lasers blue laser but it cost hundres, which is way too much)
