Eagle pair vs rayfoss safety goggles?

Today I discovered new rayfoss glasses which has >5.0(OD+5,OD+6)
and eagle pair has OD4+

And here are my questions
- Why cheaper goggles has bigger OD?Maybe it's fake?
- Why some goggles are red and some are orange?Which has better visibility?
- Do you think rayfoss goggles will protect against DPSS lasers?


P.S. I'm thinking about getting these both one for me and one for friends.And I will have to use eagle pair slip over safety goggles because I have eye glasses.But if I wouldn't have eye glasses ,rayfoss goggles will be safer(if laser is IR filtered) because of bigger OD?

Eagle Pair all the way... there might be better options out there but would you bet your eyes on it?

Possibly they may have overstated the OD. You'd have to check on a UV-Vis spectrometer to be sure, but you can also judge it by how much they reduce the power of the spot on an LPM.

- Why some goggles are red and some are orange?Which has better visibility?

Different dyes used in the plastics which will result in a slightly different colour for the user. Different dyes have different absorption spectra and hence different OD's at different wavelengths. What you see is the overall affect of the dyes absorbing those wavelengths and reflecting the rest. Visibility will be largely affected by VLT.

By the looks of it yes, but only those that fall within the range specified eg 477 and 532.

Why not you could do some testing too and let us know the results. TBH however, I think the Eagle Pairs will be better. :beer:

These meet osha standards and have the best protection for the dollar. VLT 48% OD7+.
They cost more but if you value your eye sight it's worth it.

The blue wavelengths really beat your retinas, they stress out the cones and don't allow them to reset, so they start to fail. always where laser certified glasses with the blues.
I'm still new to this, but I want to see in twenty years.
