So after three weeks of waiting I got my laser in the mail today. After opening I found out that it has a bad switch in the back. How's the customer service at dx? Also does anyone have this laser? Is there a way to open up the end cap to fix it? thanks for the help.

Is this the small "copper" one? I recently got one and it works great!

I saw a post from someone that said they took the switch apart and cleaned it (I think) and it worked.

That thread is about the Kai Domain "copper" 50mW which is a great little laser and looks very similar to the DX 30mW here http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.7883 It looks like it comes from the same manufacturer, so the rear clicky probably works the same.

BTW, I just got my rechargeable CR2 lithiums from DX yesterday and after a charging with the Ultrafire CR2/CR123a charger (using spacers) @ 3v, they came out holding 3.4v and I've never seen the KD 50mW shining brighter. A hell of a lot cheaper than buying CR2 primaries, so if you plan on playing with it a lot, the batteries and charger are a great deal.

Hopefully the clicky fix in the KD-50 thread will work for you. let us know! If it doesn't, DX has always been great for replacing items that arrived DOA, and they usually don't ask for the old one back either, so maybe you'll get some spare parts out of the deal. Of course, Chinese New Year is still on so don't expect to hear form them right away, they're not back until the 15th.

Cheers, CC

Hey thanks for the help. My switch doesn't look the same as the kai (cr2) laser o well. For now I can still kind of play with it. Hopefully dx won't be too long. Maybe they will let me keep it, spare parts are always nice. ;D By the way I have the cheaper cr2 charger and the ultra fire cr2 s' are on the way. Thanks again.

Here is a pic of the switch Let me know if you have any ideas.

Is the switch really broken, or just a loose connection to the endcap? I read someone resoldered the switch to the cap, fixing the problem.

Definitely get rechargeables for this.. i use them all the time in the kai 50, and it does run a lot brighter from the higher voltage. I've owned and used it for quite some time now, doesnt seem to harm it in any way.

Switch has a loose connection I just didn't know if anyone had a way to open it up. It doesn't look like the same switch that is on the kai so I see no place to solder it. Thanks

I got this laser today and after playing with it several minutes i tried to mod it and it died. :-[ :(
Now i can see only infra red light coming out of it. Is there something i can do to repair it?
