What do you use for burning movie files from your computer onto a DVD for DVD players?

I'm trying to burn a movie (video file, I'm not cloning a DVD) onto a DVD so it should work in any DVD player. My movie is already in the widescreen format 16:9. I used NeroVision Express to burn the movie onto the DVD. The Menu was not widescreen, it was 4:3, then I clicked play, and the movie appeared to be widescreen, until I actually fullscreened the movie. You could clearly see it was 4:3, because there were black bars on the side. There were also the black bars on the top and bottom of the video making it appear widescreen, all it was was a widescreen movie with a big black border surrounding it.

ConvertX to DVD(my new favourite for converting avi to dvd, mainly tv shows), CloneDVD 2(good for burning .iso and dvd folders), Roxio Media Creator 9(good for movie files to dvd)
Roxio or convertx to dvd make .iso or dvd folders out of the avi files, there are lots of options to adjust for location, size, chapters etc. and CloneDVD2 can burn these files quickly and easily.

I tried ConvertX2DVD, and... it corrupted my DVD lol. It showed up as a blank disc on my computer, and as no disc on my DVD player. Then a halfway successful burn.. the menu's were not accessible, the menu's were actually movies, you couldn't click on them.. I'm not sure why, but before the movie started it played a 10 second clip of each menu and it's effect, that being.. just sitting at the menu screen but in a movie format.
I havn't got a sucessful menu yet using Convertx2dvd

I haven't burnt a dvd with convertXtoDVD either, I had the same problems, kept ending up with blank discs.
To use it just for conversions, you can set it not to burn, and to save to a working folder. CloneDVD2 can then burn the image and it should work. :)
