dose a laser module require a separate driver ?

was jus wondering if a 5mw laser module requires an external driver or weather it has one pre built in

because I don't want to blow my module by the power spike in batteries

Yes it has a driver inside the module. You just have to connect it to 2 AA or AAA batteries
