Does anyone know the laws and regulations?

I just ordered my 100 mW laser off ebay yesterday. It has been shipped and was paid for using paypal. But I am now reading that lasers of 5mW are illegal to buy so I am kind of getting a little worried that I am going to get in trouble because of the purchase. I really don't know though?

I'm assuming you live in the states then the FDA is the place to look and remember Google is your friend for answers

If it's shipped within the states there is no FDA inspection. If it is coming from another country (i.e. China) it depends on what they put on the customs forms. If they call it a light pen you might get away with it. If it gets popped for a random inspection and it's illegally labeled you can kiss the laser goodbye.

It came from Hong Kong. Who knows, I just don't want to get penalized for not knowing it was illegal, I assumed Ebay wouldn't sell items that were illegal without a warning or statement making it clear.
