Last Night i finish my pocket Burner Projekt.  :)
I need 2 Dvd Burners for that. The first diode i kill to set up the driver.
dont have test load, normaly i try to find the lowest setting with a high power LED.
Than i hook up the LD and measure direct with the Laser diode.
But the flex pot is filligree and i hit 650ma, i think this kill the first one. :(
Dvd Burners cost 17,- € plus shipping 7 for two pieces, quit cheap from ebay.

I use:
-cheap Noname 1xaa Host
-selfmade heatsink  8-)
-Aixis modul with Arylic Lens
-Flexdrive @425ma
-Lg 22x Diode
-Trustfire 14500 900mah 3.7V protected

Sweet little pocket monster burner.  :)

I dont have Laser power Meter. How many mw output can i expect?
What i read in this forum, let me guess it can be up to 300mw?

I also have some different glass lenses.
They make a nicer beam but i think the get some power from my diode.
Its a Lens 27 from Roither laser, this one have 3 glass lenses inside, but it cost to much power i think.
And i have aixis glass lens from aixis, but the same i think this cost power in comparison with the Acrylic one.

Have somebody compared this with a power meter?

best regards

Daniel

Wow man! Nice job with that custom mod there. 8-)

Tight fit, clean work. Some of the nicest beam shots I've seen!

At 425mA's with an AixiZ acrylic lens, you should be around 250mW's. To see 300mW's at that current, you would need a Meredith glass lens.

But don't touch a thing! It is perfect the way it is!

The third Beamshoot is made with speziall trick. 8-)

I put laser and camera on my desk, set up the DSLR Camera to 20 seconds exposure time.
When the picture is taken i walk by the beam and blow smoke in the beam to get this nice shot.
and another thing is the end of the beam is "terminated" by the black alloy heatsink.
If i do this not the hole picture will be over exposed like in the first beamshot.

@jayrob
its possibel to put more current on this lg 22x open can?
I only read about this 420, i dont have lpm to prove how high i can go with current.

daniel

sorry for my bad english :-[

I've pushed them to 470mA's with a thicker heatsink, but even at that, they don't last too long at that current. I like 430mA's these days.

With your small host, I would leave it where it's at. And even so, use a conservative duty cycle. Like 1 min. on / 30 sec. off. It might even be better to go for 30 seconds on at a time. I'm sure you can feel it get warm.
Jay

Yes you are right, it getting warm in 30 seconds.

I try to stay with the duty cycle under 30 sec.  ::)
