diy driver question

does the size of the cap matter, ex. can i put a larger cap into the circuit, or would that be a bad idea?
also does the type of cap make a difference either, im looking at a electrolytic, but i could try a tantalum or a ceramic?

and a link on how to make a test load would be nice =P
