Dirty lens?

I notice it looks like a fuzzy ring around the dot of my green laser. I dont really notice if Im looking at the dot far away, but up close I notice it. Now I dont know if this is normal either but lets say I hold up a piece of paper and shine the beam like right on the edge were its not touching the paper but its right next to it I see some light on the paper. So maybe this is normal, but I probably need to clean the lens but Im not risking that right now.

Your going to get some 'scatter' with most non-gas lasers since it's almost impossible to get lenses 'totally' clean and eliminate internal reflections in them and the housing. If it's not really horrible, i'd suggest leaving it alone, since with cleaning them, sometimes it's easier to do more harm than good.
