Can someone explain the difference between diode housings and whats the best. When I say difference i'm talking as far as plastic optics, collimnating glass lens and such. I know i've read on here where the glass optic of one kind is brighter but you cant get the beam as tight as you can with the plastic aixiz housing. Can someone break it down for me?

Most use the Aixiz housing. Optics choice would depend, of course, on the diode that you intend to put in the housing. For instance, with a bluray, you don't want to use the aixiz glass lens as it is coated for red. If you're making a red, try both the acrylic and glass lenses and see which you prefer.

There is also a Meredith housing, has an excellent glass lens that outperforms aixiz by a large margin.

Bluray - aixiz clear acrylic, or check in group buys for 405nm coated lens. Avoid using a lens coated for red
Red - aixiz glass lens

A search will get you more detailed info.
