Hello!
I just had my first encounter with dinodirect.com. They had a sale on their "100mW 532nm Green Laser Pointer Kaleidoscopic" which I cannot any longer find in their product list :-( $17.42 / ea. For the price tag I pretty much knew what was expected, but I decided to try them & their customer service out.
They seem to provide the same assortment of products which FP / DX / KD etc carry. However they have office in the US and some US support phone number.
Not that it matters to me as a Swede, but anyhow.
Once receiving the item I measured it in my LaserBee. Both of them measured around 25-27mW. I contacted their live support. Here is the transcript:
[robbie]:*Welcome to DinoDirect support. How may I assist you?
[Me]:Hello. I just received my order of 2x 100mW green lasers. However when I measured power output i an LPM (Laser Power Meter) It only reaches 25-27mW
[Me]:i.e. lower than your 30mW version
[robbie]:*Sorry for the late reply.
[Me]:no problems
[robbie]:*You mean it is the wrong one?
[Me]:I ordered the 100mW version, on the label it says 100mW. So I presume it's the correct item. However when I test it in the LPM it only measures ~25mW. i.e. 1/4 of the specified power
[robbie]:*Did you use the right batteries?
[Me]:I switched batteries to new ones before trying. I also measured with the accompanying batteries.
[Me]:both gave same result
[Me]:I have also measured both pointers received. I ordered 2x 100mW, none of them go above 27mW at max.

[Me]:Your 30mW pointer cost 14 USD. the 100mW cost 17 USD. Since these pointers perform about 30mW I would appreciate a partial refund of payment of $8.64 if this is possible instead?
[Me]:$8.64 is the difference of 2x 30mW vs 2x 100mW

I don't care about the $8.64, but they show excellent quality of customer service. The customer representative also seems to be very good in verbal communication. Which is something that can *not* be said about FP!

I think that they simply don't know the details of what they are selling. So in that sense they are not taking any more advantage than any other of their type company.
