This project came about as a result of wanting a cheap host for the oem parts I removed during my DX200mW mod (see sig).
I didn't want to buy a flashlight host, I wanted to be creative & discover a host from the boxes of stuff I have at work.
I'm a Motorola two-way radio technician & I found some retired speaker mics, the kind that clip on a shirt lapel that remotely operate a hand held radio. The cops use them.
It seemed perfectly suited as a laser host because of its small size & it already has a momentary contact switch on the side.
The tapered portion where the cord went in was easily resized to accommodate an aixis module.
It was actually a pretty simple build using a dremel to clean up the insides to fit in the 2x 3.6V AAs & placing in the components. The two halves come together tightly against the module. I like the belt clip also as this will make it a nice little "knock around" burner.
I will add a charging jack for the batteries to finish it off.
