In my initial search for BR drivers I came across the modified Die4Drive being used by andy_con for his blu_ray burner laser. So I shot him an email inquiring about the modified driver. Although I am currently building my own driver, I thought others might be interested in a small and professionally built premade driver.
According to Robin, at 40mA the input voltage only needs to be 0.8v more than the Vf of the diode if I read him correctly.
The original driver was made to run red diodes up to 2A supporting CW, analog and TTL modulation up to 200kHz and is very professionally made with SMD components on a PCB.
Size is only 44.5mm x 22.5mm All you need to do is solder the diode to the output and the driver to the power supply. There is also a monitor pad to test current going through the diode. Soft start feature and added second pot to set threshold current.
The modified BR version just has the modulation disabled and the pot is configured to adjust the current from 10-100mA.

Prices in GBP:
Red diode: 18
BR: 22
if 3 units are ordered:20
>5 units: 18
so even if there are 5 separate orders I think his 18gbp price should still hold. shipping is separate though for each person.
Shipping to US in GBP:
standard airmail: 2
insured and expedited: 6
Exchange rate is about 1GBP=2USD? slightly more.
Total price ~$40 shipped.
You can probably make your own driver for much cheaper but the Die4Drive is very well made adjustable current source driver with many options. Robin was very helpful in his emails with me.
Contact Robin at robinbowden@die4laser.com if you are interested in purchasing these premade drivers. Or you can wait for 5 orders to be confirmed here before contacting him as a group.
