Did I kill my diode?

I was working with 16x blu Ray and I was trying to get the beam to focus, I turned it off went to adjust my power source and tried to turn the laser back on and it wouldn't fire. Is there any way to test if the diode is actualy dead or if it's just my crappy a** connecting skills

Ps the driver still gets warm to the touch but not hot does that mean it's still works or just that I killed it

Did you use a heatsink for the diode? if not it could be toasted.
