hi everyone this is my first post and im not sure if im breaking any rules so please forgive me if i am.

i recently ordered the Devil Cyber 405nm - 100mW Focusable Violet Laser Pointer from lazerer and i seem to have a problem. after charging the battery for over 2 hours the laser when turned on is very very dim. its almost so dim i cannot see the dot. i dont know if its a battery problem or if the unit itself is broken any help would be great. i emailed Max@LAZERER.com about this and have not received anything back but its only been a few hours so thats not that surprising to me.

mostly i am looking to see if anyone had any advice as to if theirs a simple fix.

any help is much appreciated :thanks:

There may not be any problem. 405nm (purple) is on the end of the visible spectrum, and very dim to the human eye. At 100mw, the dot may not appear very bright, but is still powerful. Then again, lazerer.com does not have the best reputation.

If you focus the dot, will it start to smoke any black materials or burn your skin?

i cant seem to get it to smoke any black materials or feel anything on my skin.

Hmm. If you unfocus the laser, does the dot look normal? Also, were you sure to put the batteries in the correct way?

yes make sure batteries are correct. recently had a protection circuit fry. on an expensive laser.

unfocused the dot seems to look fine as for the battery the unit does not turn on if the battery is put in the other direction so it must be in the right way.

So you put the battery in the other direction and tried to turn it on?

yes when i received it i did could that have caused a problem?

Yes, that is the problem. You are lucky that it is not completely broken, but it probably lost over half of its power. Unfortunately, this will have voided your warranty as well.

Diodes can only take current in one specific direction, and cheap lasers do not have reverse polarity protection. Luckily, you still have some power. Also, you may be able to replace the diode.

i dont know. i have a cheapie 405 and i can insert battery wrong ALL DAY LONG with no ill effects. however yours may not be blessed with the surprisingly amazing protection circuit that mine has.

oh wow i had no idea well thank you for your help guess ill just have to look into a new laser and be a bit more careful in the future. this is actually one of my first laser purchases.

What type of laser are you looking for? Might be able to help you on where to buy them as lazerer has a decent at best reputation.

Also, do you have safety gear?

if you got das safety gear and you stay around for more than a week, my hades line might be of interest. not to advertise but i think the hades will be a great buy. i could give you the link to where i got my idiot proof 405 if youd like. burns like a champ and you can find my review in the reviews section. my 405 was only $20

well im looking for something that has a descent potential to burn. i also like the look of the violet lasers however i also like green. unfortunately i don't have a huge budget at the moment as im just a college student.

Also check out Sci-Fi lasers. They have a 100mw green and a 200mw red, both for under $50. The green will have an easily visible beam and the red will burn great. Both have the same host as your cyber too.
