Power Rock Green laser Torch 50mW /Focusable&Waterproof [OL-MRGL50] - $36.99 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce

https://www.optotronics.com/proddetail.php?prod=Opto55

Hello guys,

I'd really like to buy my first laser. I'm doubting between the above 2 lasers. What is most stunning to me is the price difference. I heard that optotronics is a really reliable website but the top one from o-like is waterproof and focusable and it's only half the price... They both claim to be 50-55 mW so can you guys help me? Has it something to do with the IR or something? Just learned that term lol. Also the top one has a battery charger and holder etc.. wth?

Regards,
Shumala

I would buy the optotronics laser. Even though not being waterproof, the quality will be far better than the o-like laser.

O-like may include the IR in the total output but optotronics will not, which guarantees you will be getting AT LEAST 50mW of green :)

Thanks for quick answer :)
What I really love is to see a green beam when it gets dark outside. Do you think this laser would accomplish that? the Optotronic one? or would 40mW be enough?

Thanks!

10mW is enough to see a beam at night. 50mW/40mW will be more then enough and will have an easily seen beam :D

Will it be really underspec because of the price? And can you just keep it on as long as you like? Sorry, really new to this!

Thanks!

I can't say how under-spec/over-spec o-like lasers are since I have never bought anything from them, which would only make me give you an inaccurate answer, same for the duty cycle. Perhaps somehow who owns such laser/bought many from o-like can give you an estimate :)

I would try laserbtb.com over o-like.com, laserbtb.com has some pretty good products for the price. optotronics is more than enough quality for hobbyists. With laserbtb.com you can be fairly sure that your laser will be on-spec or above-spec. There are plenty of members here who can meter your laser for you too

I would go with 50mW of green if you want to be impressed by the beam at night

Thank you so much, I really like this forum. :) everyone is so nice and shares interests :D

If you really want to see a beam get a blue laser !! I know that 445 are less visible than 532 but the beam on 445 is so thick and bright !! And if its focusable you can have a blue flashlight ! Lol ! Greens are really good but like i said a blue laser will come at more mW for the price of a good greene. And people get very impressed with blues ! And more if they burn a Lot !!!
I have a 581mW 445nm by blord and i just love it ! :)
Forgot to mention that when u say "blue laser" people go like.... blue laser ?!?! O...o (~.^) @_@ O_O
