Can someone help me with my laser purchase?

Hey, I'm new here and looking to make my first laser purchase. I want to buy a 5 in 1 green laser pointer mainly just to make cool patterns on the wall and use for star gazing. Basically a laser with different heads or tips to diffract the light into patterns. I'd also like it to be able pop balloons and cut plastic if possible. (does the extra mW make the laser unsafe for viewing?) id also want it to be lightweight, portable, and take aaa or aa batteries.

I've seen tons of 100mW and 200mW on amazon and other sites, but id rather deal with a trusted source to make sure i get what i paying for. Are there any recommended sites to buy this type of laser pointer from? None of the sites on the stickies had this type of laser available.

Thanks in advance!

AAA/AA and burning don't like each other.

I've thought of this one, but I am not sure since O-like's reputation got/fell down recently...

I've bought another one for my cousin, and it is pretty bright and has nice effects, but won't burn. And it uses AAA batteries. It is also from O-like.

Thanks, Ill check some more out at O-like. What do you mean their reputation has gone down? I just want to buy one from a site that will give me the mW that I am paying for.

For the first one, does that one burn? Also, what type of battery is that, standard AA? That seems what I'm looking for, except for possibly the batteries and its a little bit pricey. But, I'm guessing this is the typical price though so I'm fine paying that. Also, do those diffraction caps work with any model on their site?

And the second model, is there the same type with just higher mW? Because I've seen a few with 200mW label, but based on what your saying does that mean that they will have very short battery life?
How much more visible is the 150mW compared to the 50mW? I guess I could live without being able to pop balloons and burn plastic :yh:, but if it is significantly less visible then I'd rather just pay more and get the higher mW.

Thanks again!

Look, you can't have a racing car with 20hp engine. You can't have a burning laser with AAA/AA batteries (technically, you can, but li-ions are MUCH better).

First one should burn, but it depends on what you burn. It has a 18650 battery with a charger.

Second one won't burn, but it uses AAA. You shouldn't use high power and diffraction caps.

And if you want to burn, you should have safety goggles.

With chinese companies, most of the time it is a gamble.
O-like has been a reputable seller here, but last few orders (recently) were screwed up. For more info, search the forum.

When comparing 50mW to 150mW how noticeable is the difference in beam brightness? Also, how unsafe is the 150mW really? I don't plan on shining it in anyone eyes, but I would definitely enjoy shining it on nearby objects and viewing the beam close up.

I have a 70mW green of which I can see the beam indoors, and just looking at the dot within 5 - 10 metres of me causes sore eyes. So You'll definately need safety goggles.

As long as you don't shine the laser at others or on reflective surfaces, 150mW would still be ok, but you won't be 100% safe.

I think I'm going to just get the 50mW one from o-like, but I can't seem to pay with mastercard. Doesn't give me the paypal option or mastercard option. only accepting visa. Is there another site that might sell this same model more reliably, or possibly a strong mW version?

Contact O-like about payment options. Last time I payed with PayPal.

Yeah, 50mW Green still looks bright! I guarantee you'll be surprised when you open it up.

You should look into skylaser (laserbtb) or lazerer... Both awesome companies but if you want a burner with aaa batterys i would suggest

LP 532nm 1-150

and it has a really cool host.
