Probably , no.

You would be much better off looking through all the links on Goggle instead asking LPF people.
There are a lot of google links on the subject -- several pages of them including several "how to make".

The laser pointer part of it is just a laser pointer like any other laser not used for that purpose.
LPF members can help you build one although it would be a lot easier and cheaper just to buy one in the price range of $5 to $50 for your purposes.

The receiver is what you want to make and research as well as how to set up the components--- is not an LPF topic or really anything of interest that ever comes up on LPF.

LPF is pretty much just about lasers.

I agree with Encap... Any laser Module that outputs
a decent beam can be used.
It doesn't need to be Laser Pointer.
