I want to build my first blu-ray laser. Can someone suggest a diode, driver, and housing? I was thinking the 405nm diode from modwerx. What driver should i use for this diode? I want it to be 50mw+. Thanks for the help.

Hi, this is what I am currently building:

PHR-803T HD DIODE removed from sled 405nm : http://stonetek.org/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65&products_id=236
Aixiz Diode Housing Module : http://stonetek.org/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=66&products_id=191
Custom Heatsink for Dorcy Junior (OPTIONAL) : http://stonetek.org/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=69&products_id=231
FlexDrive Boost Driver : http://stonetek.org/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=71&products_id=242

Theres the things I am using, I haven't included a host because I am just keeping it as that and may find something later on, the heatsink can be used by it's self even though it is made for the dorcey junior which would be the ideal host for this build. The heatsink will also help with temperatures if you are going to be leaving the laser on for longer than a few minutes.

All those products are from Stonetek a trusted seller here at LPF, but you may be able to find the things cheaper elsewhere.

I would also suggest you get these safety goggles which cover blue, green and violet 405nm lasers : http://www.dragonlasers.com/catalog...protection--Laser-safety-glasses-p-16242.html

Without the safety goggles the build comes too :  $84.46

without goggles or heatsink :  $65.47

With everything including goggles :  $109.45 or £75.22

Hope this helps :)

The diode and housing is a little expensive when i can get a diode and housing together for $19 at modwerx.com. Is the diode from stonetek better? Also i could get a micro driver for around $13. Should i do this or go with the stonetek products? Also what batteries should i use?
