Hi guys, new to LPF and getting into lasers. I’m currently looking at buying the most brightest visible laser on the market but not sure whether to go for a 1W 520nm/525nm or 5W 465nm/470nm. What would you guys recommend? Thanks. -Dylan :)

There is a relative brightness comparison chart but I can't link it.
A 100mw blue 445 is about as bright as a 10mW 532. So basicly 1/10 across the power board. This is a 445nm to 532nm comparison..

Are those laser relative brightness calculators even accurate?

They are pretty close but there are variables that factor in.
Beam and dot brightness can vary, and not all eyes see the same.

Which one will have a brighter dot though? I need it for long distance pointing. Thank you.

Okay, wait a sec, you’re saying that you’re just getting into lasers and you want the brightest laser on the market? Just 1/3 of 1% of a 1.5 watt laser can blind you. Do you even have goggles, if so what kind? And, most lasers are sold under spec, so you could be getting more than 1 watt or 5 watts...
Power = Brightness
