blu ray vs true blue?

blu-ray is a marketing term. A blu-ray diode is ~405nm, which means its on the border between UV and violet - in no way blue. Real blue light has a longer wavelength... perhaps 440-500nm?

473nm DPSS and 488nm argon are some of the most common actually blue lasers, but they can also be some of the most expensive lasers accessible to hobbyists (and even then, these units are are a bit too greenish to quite say they're "true blue")

I'll supply a good 'comparison shot' later on in the week... ;)
