I was once using one of my lasers near a pond. The ducks flipped out. I felt really bad.

Never doing that again... :p

Typically most would come to the same conclusion.... I shot a robin with a BB-gun as a kid, watched it fall. Worse thing I ever felt as a kid, but it taught me to respect birds later.

On a trip to the lake with my girl, we were sitting on the boat dock, nobody was there, we were staring up looking for shooting stars. Lasers are great for this. You can indicate exactly where you saw one, and confirm with the other observers whether you did in fact see it, or if your eyes were just playing tricks on you. Anyways, it was very peaceful, hearing the water lap up against the dock, the waves brushing up onto the lakeshore behind us. Every now and then, you could hear a big fish jump somewhere out in the lake.

Then I shined my 30mW green laser on the other shoreline across the lagoon.

We left, because the birds were freaking out too much.
